The processing of medical parts and components made of titanium and titanium alloys requires different surface structures and textures: The pickling process cleans and activates the surfaces for further process steps, such as colour anodising.

Surface anodizing is an electrochemical process for surface finishing of medical components, instruments and orthopaedic products. It is primarily used for colouring the components as well as for optical purposes.

Chemical etching creates a porous structure on the surface and thus guarantees a good bond between metal and body tissue.

On the other hand, electropolishing of titanium provides very smooth surfaces that ensure an aesthetic appearance for dental ceramics.
